Skip: The stores I remember are the Tulip Bakery (we'd walk down there after church at St. Elizabeth's)
Melinda: I remember going to the Tulip bakery on Sunday mornings after church to get a warm loaf of Koenig's rye bread.
About.com Guide, by John Roleke:
There's only one Tulip Bakery (138 Tulip Ave, Floral Park, NY, 516-354-1105), and it's worth crossing into Nassau County for the tastiest baked goods, danish, cookies, and plain old rolls this side of the East River -- old-fashioned in the best possible way. Devour a lemon danish with its custard center and cinnamon-infused cake and you'll think Tulip is the greatest baked shop since sliced bread.

The baked goods are so yummy now... There is a new owner of this bakery and owner of the near by restaurant Swing The Teapot!! My family recommend and love this Cafe. You no longer need to go to Manhattan to find great food and a great price!!! A+++++
We have lived in Floral park for over 10 years and have been waiting so long...for a great bakery and cafe!
